You’ve probably watched funny or interesting videos on the Web before. Good news! Putting your own home movies on the Web is almost as easy as watching them.
If you already have a Web page you can upload video to, you can save your movie to your computer and then upload the movie file to your Web page.
If you don't have a Web page where you can upload video to, the easiest way to share a movie on the Web is to use the Save Movie Wizard in Windows Movie Maker to save your project to one of the Movie Maker video hosting providers. After your movie is saved to the hosting provider, you can send friends a URL (which you get from the hosting provider), and they can watch the movie in Windows Media Player.
To save your movie to a Movie Maker video hosting provider
1. |
Visit the Windows Movie Maker Partners page, and create an account with one of the Movie Maker hosting providers. Make note of your user name, password, and the URL that others will use to watch your video after it has been copied to the Web. |
2. |
Open your project in Movie Maker. |
3. |
In the Movie Tasks pane, under Finish Movie, click Send to the Web.
4. |
The Save Movie Wizard opens. On the Saved Movie File page, type a name for your movie. Then click Next.
5. |
On the Movie Setting page, select the type of Internet connection your viewers have. For example, if most of the people who will watch your movie use a dial-up Internet connection, click Dial up modem to create a lower-quality version of the video that they can download quickly. If most of your viewers have a broadband Internet connection or you’re sending the video to their work e-mail, click DSL, cable modem, or higher to create a higher-quality version of the video. Then click Next.

6. |
Movie Maker saves your movie, which might take several minutes. On the Select a Video Hosting Provider and Sign In page, select your video hosting provider. Type your user name and password. If you would rather not enter your password every time you run this wizard, select the Remember my password check box. However, keep in mind that others who use the wizard with your computer user account will have access to your video hosting provider account. Then click Next.
7. |
The Save Movie Wizard uploads your movie to your video hosting provider, which might take several minutes. On the Completing the Save Movie Wizard page, select Watch my movie on the Web after I click Finish. Then click Finish.
8. |
The Save Movie Wizard opens your Web browser on your video hosting provider’s page, so you can see what others will see when you share your movie. It’s probably smaller than it appears on your computer, because smaller videos are easier to share across the Internet. |
Now you can share your movie by sending the URL (provided by your video hosting provider) to your friends through e-mail or an instant messenger service. They’ll be able to connect to your video hosting provider and watch your video for free.
