This is a suggested tutorial for standard 4:3 NTSC video, the standard video format used in the US. If you are using PAL, a common video format outside of the US, you will need to adjust some settings to reflect this. This takes you through the process of compressing a video and deinterlacing giving you a better quality web video. Note: this is not necessary but will improve the quality of the videos being played on the site. If you use Windows Media Encoder to encode your AVI video files, open it up and select "Custom Session" and then follow these steps. Windows Media Encoder is available at Microsoft and download is free.

1) In the "Source" pane, in the "Source from", select "File".
2) Browse and get the AVI file you want to encode, and then click "Apply".
3) In the "Output" pane, deselect "Pull from encoder", and then select "Encode to file".
4) Browse to name the file and where you want to put the rendered WMV file, and then click "Apply".
5) In the "Compression" pane and select the following:
"Destination" = Windows Media server (streaming)
"Video"= DVD quality video (CBR)
"Audio"= CD quality audio (CBR)
"Bits rate"= check 2073Kbps (which should be the default)
6) Select "Two-pass encoding" and then click "Apply".
7) In the "Video Size" pane go to the "Resize" window, "Method", and select "Custom" Width=320 Height=240, and click "Apply".
8) In the "Processing" pane and in the "Video" section select "Deinterlace".
9) Now go to the top tool bar and click "Start Encoding".
